The ADVENT season invites us into a time of beauty and reflection. We find ourselves betwixt and between in this season. We are told it is a time of preparation for the God entering our lives more deeply; it is also a time of much scurrying and busyness. How to mesh the two?
During Advent we will offer Daily Reflections on the homepage. We do this to remember who we are in our deepest selves and what we are truly about in our preparation for this awesome season of Christmas.
…and they shall name him Emmanuel,” which means “God is with us.” (Matthew 1: 23)
There is nothing we desire more than God with us. We yearn for God’s love, God’s touch, God’s imprint on our hearts. God promises all of these, yet we do not experience them as we might expect. We wait, we pray, we hope for a connection. Advent is the season of stilling ourselves to accept that connection in a way that can change our very hopes and give us a deeper understanding of ourselves and the world around us. “Be still, my soul, and wait.”
