Baptism

Infants
Parents who desire that their child be baptized as an infant are requested to attend a Baptism information session offered once monthly. After the parents (and sponsors, if possible) attend the class, they participate in the planning of their child’s baptism which regularly occurs on the last Sunday of each month. Exceptions to this are Advent and Lent when we do not have baptisms. Contact Sr. Rachel at (309) 688-3446 for the class schedule.
Children
Any child who is at the age of reason (ages 7-8) whose parents seek baptism for the child participate in the Rite of Christian Initiation for Children (R.C.I.C.). The time frame for classes and baptism are the same as for adults joining the Catholic Church.
Adults
Adults interested in becoming Catholics are invited to participate in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A.) which meets during the year beginning the first Wednesday of October. Baptism occurs at the Easter Vigil.
